![]() And In my professional opinion they should have been labeled somewhere as E.G. I know you weren't cool at all with the columns in the garage. The plans showed columns and AFAIK you approved the plans. Only have done it when someone is adding a 2nd floor over an storage attic and the attic framing isn't designed for floor load. In fact, I don't put columns in a garage ever on a new project. When I've worked with car people I certainly would NOT put columns in a garage. It says "double up on joists below master bedroom and closet" along the dotted line. It may not be clear, but the only things noted in the garage area: To my eyes, I saw them as the drains I asked for: The architect was very "detailed" in certain things I asked for (such as adding mom's specific furniture to design her living space around). Only one person on here picked up on them as well when I had posted the plan originally too. I asked for a drain or multiple drains in the garage bays for washing the cars inside the garage. Remember this fact (yes, fact as there was an email to the builder requesting this) when looking at the following picture. There was NOTHING noted as to tell me those were columns. In the garage, there were 3 tiny circles. There was lots of "notating" (for lack of perhaps the proper term) in the plans I saw, such as " 2x10 SPF #2 Floor Joists" with arrows pointing to a location on the plan etc. I looked at a set of plans, but had no idea those were columns. I need to hear "negatives" in order to determine how I handle this.
